My Shared Items: Week of February 7th, 2010
These are links from my Google Reader Shared Items to interesting webpages I discovered during the week of February 7th, 2010:
- It's You, Not Me | The New Republic – So true.
- The Accountable Presidency | The New Republic – In the form of a review of two books on the subject, this article takes a long, detailed, even-handed look at the history of the constitutional power of the presidency. In particular I enjoyed the analysis of how the two major parties have flip-flopped on this issue over the years. Will be cited in an upcoming blog post. Worth nothing that it is written by a lawyer who worked for DOJ under GWB.
- Why Do People Push Placebo Buttons? – Neatorama – I knew it.
- snopes.com: No Plate –
- Calvin and Hobbes –
- Google baulks at Australia's call to censor YouTube – Not to Chinese censorship, no to Australian censorship. Gotta love that.
- Youtube – DC Snow Time Lapse – Thanks, Erin!
- The United States of Facebook – Thanks, Erin! I don't get "stayathomia."
- eHarmony Study Finds an Average of 236 eHarmony Members Marry Every Day – eHarmony marriages accounted for 2% of all marriages in America in 2007. Ridiculous.
- Lost In The Everglades And Loving It – Video – WPLG Miami – This is my uncle! He is incredibly cool.
- Slate V – If Filmmakers Directed the Super Bowl – Thanks, Bryan!
- Heavy Snow around U.S. Capital : Image of the Day –
- Undercover Boss Video – Waste Management – CBS.com – If you didn't catch this after the Super Bowl, you should. It was fantastic.
- Bare Breasts Don't Beget Boffo Box Office: – Barking up the wrong tree – More from the mixed-up world of movie economics!
- Magazine ranks Atlanta as America's gayest city | ajc.com –
- Grammar Nazi [pic] –
- Entire Jon Stewart Interview on the O'Reilly Factor – Video – FoxNews.com – Bill O'Reilly is the biggest jackass I've ever encountered. He's Limbaugh with a brain. What he cut from this interview when it aired is just appalling. Stewart is right – O'Reilly has a narrative and the channel has rallied around it.
- Office Depot Haircuts Commercial – One of my favorite ads ever.
- Google Buzz – Oh boy, a Twitter killer. Just what I always didn't want.
- YouTube – Parisian Love – Man… I love Google.
- Free FLV Converter | YouTube Converter | BENDER CONVERTER – Need a YouTube video on your iPod? Here ya go.
- The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs : Every time I go to New York, I’m reminded how lucky I am to live in California – Most of this isn't worth it, but the paragraph on how Apple succeeded in fighting music piracy by selling convenience is spot-on. Journalism, take note.
- YouTube – Verizon "Big Red" – Nice.
